The scoring system in the World Test Championship ensures that each series, regardless of length, offers the same number of points to prevent teams that play fewer Tests from being disadvantaged. Points are awarded based on a team’s performance in the Test match and not the series. In dead rubber matches, once the outcome of the series has been decided, points are divided equally between the playing teams.

🔸 Each match is worth 12 points, regardless of match length. 🔸 Teams are ranked based on the percentage of points earned

In a 5-match series, each match carries 20% of the available points, while in a 2-match series, each match carries 50% of the points. The ICC also recognizes a draw as worth half a win and a draw as worth 1/3 of a win. The scoring system of the ICC World Test Championship is as follows: a team gets 12 points and 100% for a win, 4 points and 33.33% for a draw, 6 points and 50% for a draw and 0 points for a loss. The points system has been changed in 2021 so that teams with fewer matches have an equal chance of winning the championship.
