National Farmers Day or Kisan Diwas 2022: It is celebrated every year on December 23 to mark the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Chaudhary Charan Singh. He was the fifth Prime Minister of India and is remembered for his contributions towards improving the lives of farmers across the country. He was a farm leader and introduced various policies to ensure improvement in the lives of farmers in India. He was born to a Jat couple in Noorpur in 1902.

Farmers are the country’s strength. India celebrates Farmers’ Day in memory of Chaudhary Charan Singh, former Prime Minister. He was basically a farmer and his personal lifestyle was exceptionally simple.

Chaudhary Charan Singh was a land boy and did various things to improve the situation of Indian agriculture. His brief stint in the top job saw a series of agricultural policies and reforms adopted in India. Charan Singh’s background as a farmer helped him understand the practical difficulties of farmers and he contributed a lot to support them.

Chaudhary Charan Singh is credited with inventing and implementing the famous Zamindari Abolition Act. His fervent appeal and persuasive personality united all the peasants against landlords and loan sharks. He was even a very effective author and expressed his feelings towards the farmers and their problems and remedies. Charan Singh passed away on 29 May 1987.

Kisan Divas is appreciated for his valuable services to the farmers of our country. The whole country celebrates Farmers’ Day. Farmers and rural society people organized agricultural concerts, celebrations and paid homage to their beloved leader. New policies related to farming, agriculture, seeds, etc. were even announced by the government.

How is the day celebrated?

1. The government announced new policies for the benefit of farmers.

2. Kisan workshops are organized at department, district and block levels.

3. Agricultural officers and agricultural scientists provide the latest information about farmers in those functions.

4. Farmer workshops are held at many agricultural science sites and agricultural knowledge sites

5. The district rural development company organizes seminars, festivals and exhibitions on some elements of agriculture and rural development.

6. Farmers are educated about agricultural insurance programs.

The Indian government is introducing various schemes to improve the economic conditions of farmers but unfortunately, there are no results yet.
