International Day of Conscience 2023: Global awareness event International Day of Conscience marks the value of human conscience. It came into being on 25 July 2019 by the United Nations General Assembly in accordance with UN resolution 73/329. This year the event will be held with the theme “Building a culture of peace”.

International Day of Conscience 2023: History
On April 5, 2020, the first International Day of Conscience was celebrated. This is an opportunity to emphasize the value of self-examination and acting ethically. The development of society as a whole is also supported by pointing out necessary adjustments.
The preamble to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights notes that “disregard and contempt for human rights have led to barbaric acts that outrage the conscience of humanity, and to the birth of a world in which human beings are The enjoyment of freedom of speech and belief and freedom from fear and want has been declared the highest aspiration of the people.” In addition, article 1 of the Declaration also affirms that “all human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights, have reason and conscience, and must treat each other in a spirit of brotherhood.” ”.
The 73rd session of the United Nations General Assembly was chaired by His Highness Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Bahrain. The idea is to mark April 5 as international day of conscience. The resolution was passed by parliament and is titled “Promoting a Culture of Peace with Love and Conscience”. This decision encourages people to create a culture of peace with love and conscience in their particular circumstances and cultural traditions.

According to the United Nations Organization, “The United Nations’ mission to save future generations from the scourge of war requires a transition to a culture of peace, including anti-social values, attitudes and behaviours. reflects and inspires social interaction and sharing based on the principles of freedom, justice and democracy, all human rights, tolerance and solidarity, rejection of violence and prevent conflicts by addressing the root causes to resolve problems through dialogue and negotiation and ensure full implementation of all rights and means to fully participate in the development process of their society.”
Building a culture of peace requires a far-reaching educational, cultural, social and civic effort in which everyone has something to contribute and learn. It is an open global approach with a specific goal, namely to establish a culture of peace that is inseparable from culture at large and rooted in the hearts and minds of people . It speaks to all ages and demographic groups. Also,
- A person’s conscience is a personal sense of morality that helps determine what is right and wrong. We can become better people with better consciences by studying more about conscience.
- We must clearly understand our conscience. Nowadays, one hears a lot about conscience, which provokes debate and, if necessary, corrective action.
- Ethics is a personal matter. Each person will believe that his or her morality is noble and correct. Investigating our conscience can help us understand the moral principles of others.
The United Nations Alliance of Civilizations and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization both contribute significantly to promoting intercultural dialogue. They work with governments, international organizations, foundations, civil society organizations, the media and the private sector to carry out activities that promote a culture of peace and nonviolence. They also carry out various practical projects in the fields of youth, education, media and migration.
