The Ministry of Finance will issue a special ₹75 coin to commemorate the opening of India’s new Parliament House in New Delhi. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will announce the new currency on Sunday, May 28, 2023.

This coin is being minted by the center to commemorate 75 years of India’s independence.

Here’s everything you need to know about the special new 75 rupee coin:

1. The face of the special coin will have an engraving of the new Parliament Complex.

2. The 75 rupee coin will have these features on the reverse:

  • The lion capital of the Ashoka pillar
  • The text “Satyamev Jayate” is below
  • “Bharat” in Devanagari script on the left
  • “India” in English is on the right
  • Rupee symbol and face value 75 under Lion Capital

2. The coin will have these features on the reverse:

  • Image of the National Assembly complex
  • “Sansad Sankul” in Devanagari script on the upper periphery
  • “Parliament Complex” in English on the lower periphery

3. Its diameter is 44 mm. The edges of the coin will be embellished with 200 serrations, adding a special touch to its design.

4. With a total weight of 35 grams, it will be made using a four-part alloy composition.

5. The alloy composition will include 50% silver, 40% copper, 5% nickel and 5% zinc.

6. The 35 gram coin shall comply with the principles laid down in the First Schedule to the Constitution of India.

India’s new Parliament building will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday, May 28, 2023. More than 25 parties are expected to participate in the opening ceremony, while more than 20 parties oppose the ceremony .
