In the year 932 AD, King Arthur and his loyal squire, Patsy, embark on a quest across Britain to recruit knights for the legendary Knights of the Round Table. Throughout their journey, they engage in humorous debates, face challenges such as the Black Death, interact with peasants, defeat the Black Knight, and stumble upon a comical witch trial.
Arthur assembles a peculiar group of knights, including Sir Bedevere, Sir Lancelot, Sir Galahad, Sir Robin, and the curiously named Sir who does not appear in this film. When they approach Camelot but it seems absurd to them, they decide to search for the Holy Grail, guided by divine instructions.
Their adventure takes them to a castle occupied by mocking French soldiers who claim to possess the Grail. After a failed attempt involving a Trojan Rabbit, Arthur decides to split his knights in search of the Grail. At the same time, a modern historian is mysteriously murdered by an unknown gentleman, triggering a police investigation.
The knights face several eccentric challenges: the capricious Knights who say “Ni!”, a three-headed Knight, and Castle Anthrax inhabited by young women. Lancelot’s misguided rescue mission and a confusing note lead to comical mishaps.
Arthur’s party grows with the addition of new knights and Brother Maynard. They consult Tim the Charming and confront the dangerous Rabbit of Caerbannog. A holy hand grenade kills the beast and they discover directions to Castle Aarrgh.
Inside the cave, they confront a monstrous creature and narrowly escape. On the Bridge of Death, they answer riddles to continue, resulting in some knights being thrown into the Gorge of Eternal Peril. As Arthur and Bedevere approach Aarrgh Castle with their army, they are arrested by the police investigating the historian’s death and the film ends abruptly.
