Lake Superior is located on the Canada-US border. This is the largest lake in North America. The Canadian province of Ontario lies to the north and east, and the US states of Minnesota, Wisconsin and Michigan lie to the south and west of the lake.
It is the largest of the five Great Lakes and is connected to Lake Huron by the St. Mary.
The deepest point in Lake Superior is 1,332 feet (405 m), located on the west side of the lake. The average depth of Lake Superior is 147 feet (45 m).

The name “Lake Michigan” comes from the Ojibwa word “Michigami”, meaning “big water”. The lake was first discovered by Europeans in the early 17th century.

Lake Huron is the second largest of the Five Great Lakes. It borders the United States and Canada. The lake is connected to Lake Superior via the St. Marys, with Lake Michigan via the Straits of Mackinac and with Lake Erie via the Detroit River
The lake has an area of approximately 23,012 square miles (59,600 square kilometers). It has a maximum depth of 750 feet (229 meters) with an average depth of 195 feet (59 meters). The lake is approximately 206.3 miles (332 km) long and 180 miles (295 km) wide.
It boasts more than 30,000 individual islands, including the largest island in the Great Lakes, Manitoulin Island.
