The Indian Premier League is a batsman’s paradise where nowhere else will you witness every player, including the bowlers, crossing the line immediately after entering the field. However, this need to explode and put large totals on the scoreboard also leads to carelessness. Adding to poor form and match pressure, players are often eliminated without any points. This is called a duck in cricket and is a nightmare scenario for every batsman. Today, we cover the list of players with the most ducks in IPL history.

It was a golden duck for Dinesh Karthik
This is the 17th time he has been dismissed in the IPL without scoring, the most in the tournament (surpassing Rohit Sharma’s 16). #IPL2023 #RCBvGT pic.twitter.com/V9mOisBFRe

Run score is zero in IPL
There is nothing more damaging to a batsman’s mindset than being dismissed for not getting runs, especially those top of the order who carry the greatest responsibility on their shoulders. Even though the average batting time of batsmen in IPL is significantly lower than in other forms of cricket, they still take the field with the aim of scoring significant runs and making an impact.
Most players come, run as much as they can and leave. Even the bowlers hit explosively in the IPL, which follows the T20 cricket format. Entertainment is the top priority in IPL and nothing excites fans more than a boundary. But this fierce race for influence makes players reckless. They don’t take time to assess the pitch or settle in, which is already a luxury in T20 cricket. Plus, when a batsman is not in the right shape and form, the pressure of the IPL only increases and they collapse.
Famous and world-class batsmen were bowled out not once, sometimes on their first delivery. This is called a duck in cricket, but most people are not familiar with the term. You can read the list of players with the most ducks in the IPL below.

Player with most ducks in IPL history (2008 – 2023) – Dinesh Karthik
- Dinesh Karthik, who has been having an unsuccessful career of late, is the record holder for most IPL ducks. In his 16-season IPL career, Karthik was dismissed a shocking 17 times. He had an excellent performance in IPL 2022 but could not live up to expectations in IPL 2023.
- Rohit Sharma is the latest to enter the list of players with the most ducks in IPL. The assassin has had terrible luck recently and is in second place behind Karthik.
- The Indian cricket team captain is famous for being a heavy hitter and has led his team, Mumbai Indians, to five IPL titles. This fact makes his recent performance completely absurd. Rohit Sharma has amassed 16 ducks in his IPL career.
- Sunil Narine is at the third position in the list of players with the highest number of no runs in the IPL. The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) veteran is an all-rounder, possessing outstanding skills with both bat and ball. He had success as a right-handed batsman and a left-handed batsman. Narine batted to every command, but KKR once sent him out as an opener in the IPL. He either scored a few big hits or was fired. Narine also plays in the middle and lower middle order. He scored 15 ducks in his IPL career, in 93 innings.
