The Chief Minister of Meghalaya serves as the head of the government of the Indian state of Meghalaya. According to the Indian Constitution, the de facto executive power of a state is held by the chief minister of the state, although the governor is the de jure head of the state. The prime minister is selected by the governor and the council is ultimately responsible for his council of ministers. The Prime Minister’s term is 5 years and is not limited because the council has supported him.
