List of Centuries scored by Indians in the first test match: Test cricket is known as the backbone of international cricket. Don Bradman is the most successful test player in Test cricket history. Scoring the century goal in the first Test match is the dream of most cricketers.
Cricket test completed 144 years this year. The first test match was played between Australia and England in March 1877. To date, 115 centuries have been scored by players in their first test matches.
The first century in the first match was scored by Australia’s Charles Bannerman on 15 March 1877 while Lala Amarnath was the first Indian batsman to score a century in his first Test match.
Recently, Yashasvi Jaiswal who made his name playing for Rajasthan Royals in the IPL scored a century on his test debut. Jaiswal is a 21-year-old batsman considered by many cricket experts to be the most promising player of the next generation of Indian cricketers. Jaiswal proved why this is so. Jaiswal moved away from his explosive style and showed his prowess in red ball cricket. He made it to a hundred out of 215 balls.
Mohammad Azharuddin is the only player to have scored in centuries in his first three Tests. So far there have been 17 Indian players scoring centuries in the first test match.

Test: Most Centuries in Cricket Test
Virender Sehwag is the only Indian player to score above 300 twice in test matches. Karun Nair and Virender Sehwag are the only players to have scored three centuries in Test cricket.
Suresh Raina, Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul are the only Indian batsmen to have scored at least a century in all three formats of international cricket.
Yashasvi Jaiswal is the latest to score a century in his first Test match while Lala Amarnath is the first Indian player. Many great players like Prithvi Shaw, Sourav Ganguly and Shikhar Dhawan also scored hundreds in their first test match.
