The Governor of the state of Gujarat holds the position of chairman of the nominal representative of India in the state of Gujarat. The Governor resides at Raj Bhavan in Gandhinagar, chosen by the president for a five-year term. The Governor was appointed on 22 July 2019 by Acharya Devvrat.
The governors of the state of Gujarat have various powers, including discretionary powers, legislative powers, executive powers related to administration, appointment and removal, as well as legislative powers related to legislature and agency state legislature, known as Vidhan Sabha or Vidhan Parishad.
