On Akshay Urja Day 2023, the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) will hold several events across the country to raise awareness about renewable energy. These events will include seminars, workshops and cultural programs. India’s first Akshay Urja Day was celebrated by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy Sources (MNRE) in 2004.
The West Bengal Renewable Energy Development Authority stated: “Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), Govt. of India has declared August 20, the birthday of the late Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi as National Renewable Energy Day.
“To celebrate this memorable day statewide; MNRE, Government. of India introduced a program called “Rajiv Gandhi Akshay Urja Diwas”(RGAUD) which has been held every year since 2004,”it added.
Why is India’s Akshay Urja Day celebrated?
