Ladies and Gentlemen,

India’s Independence Day today is celebrated as one of the most important days in the history of our magnificent country. We celebrate this day with pride as we reflect on the countless sacrifices our ancestors made to liberate our country from colonial tyranny.

We honor visionary leaders such as Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru, Subhas Chandra Bose and countless others who led the liberation struggle with unyielding perseverance and fortitude on this auspicious day. As we enjoy the priceless gift of independence and sovereignty because of their tireless work and sacrifice.

As we fly the tricolor flag, we must also pause to consider the ideals and guiding tenets of our independence movement: inclusion, diversity, and unity. To develop a stronger and more prosperous India, individuals from all backgrounds, ethnicities and religions have come together to work together in our country as it is today.

As we celebrate our independence, we must be aware of the difficulties that still lie ahead. We must work to end social inequality, poverty and illiteracy. Join us to fight communism, corruption and any other force that endangers the peace in our country.

Hello everyone, including my vice president, faculty, principal and dear students. To celebrate the 77th anniversary of the country’s independence, we have all gathered here. We will honor all freedom fighters who have dedicated their lives to defending the freedom of the nation on this important occasion.

British sovereignty over India ended on August 15, 1947. All our basic rights were given to us over our country, our homeland. The British were brutal to our ancestors when they were in power. We cannot imagine how difficult it was for India to live in the British Empire from where we are sitting. To gain independence, millions of people had to die over the years.

Countless freedom fighters have fought for independence throughout their lives. We can never forget the sacrifice of Lala Lajpat Rai, Chandra Shekhar Azad, Bhagat Singh, Rani Lakshmibai, Khudiram Bose, Sukhdev Thapar, Vallabhbhai Patel, Mangal Pandey, Tatya Tope, Ram Prasad Bismil, Udham Singh, Bal Gangadhar Tilak, Gopal Krishna Gokhale, and many others have lost their lives just fighting for a better future.

We are extremely grateful to our ancestors who fought to free us from British domination. They have contributed to our remarkable growth in the fields of technology, education, sports and finance. With participation in competitions like the Asian Games, Commonwealth and Olympic Games, Indians are making progress.

On this important day, now our responsibility is to uphold the nation’s honor, promote the nation and uplift the nation. I wish everyone a happy Independence Day and good luck in the future.

Thank you and Happy Independence Day to all of you!

Good morning all dignitaries and compatriots present here.

On the eve of Independence Day, we honor the bravery and sacrifice of Indian freedom heroes. When India gained independence, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, our first Prime Minister, raised the tricolor flag at Delhi’s Red Fort and Lahori Gate. This day has been considered a separate holiday ever since. Many programs are dedicated to honoring the solemn occasion of the day in the Red Fort-like parade of our Indian warriors and students firing 21 shots to signal the beginning of events and cultural performances. Independence Day celebrations also include kite flying, filling the sky with a variety of kites of all sizes, shapes and colors. Then, starting in 1974, all the different ministers flew the national flag.

The celebration of the division of the subcontinent into India and Pakistan is another contemporary relevance of Independence Day. We are known as the largest democracy in the world. The Parliament of Great Britain passed the Indian Independence Act 1947 on this day, giving legislative power to the nation of India.

May my words be enough to arouse your joy and patriotism. Happy Independence Day!

One of our greatest assets is our diversity. Celebrate our diversity and cherish our rich cultural heritage this Independence Day. Together, we are stronger and India stands out in the international arena because of its diversity.

Finally, let us never forget how difficult and expensive it was to gain our independence. As proud Indians, it is our responsibility to uphold the democratic, secular and socially just ideals envisioned by our ancestors.
