The UK’s security and intelligence organization commonly known as GCHQ (Government Communications Headquarters), has released its annual Christmas card puzzle for Christmas 2022.
The 2022 #GCHQChristmaspuzzle features seven difficult puzzles based on the seven principles of language, engineering, decoding, analysis, arithmetic, encryption and cyber security, all of which are key competencies that GCHQ needs to help maintain national security.
In addition to the seven puzzles, there’s another big difference in this year’s Christmas card puzzle. After solving all seven puzzles, players will need to use their creativity to piece together the solutions to create three different *what3words Christmas tree locations are shown on the front of the card.
The three location names would then have to be joined together to form GCHQ’s unique festive response.

Christmas cards have been sent to every GCHQ partner in the UK and around the world who helps the organization fight threats.
The card was also sent to schools and colleges and was also made available to the public to try and test their intelligence against the intelligence agency’s in-house quiz developers.

The intelligence agency has released a series of seven quizzes aimed at school and university students interested in science, technology and engineering. The puzzle was developed by the in-house puzzle team and is a difficult puzzle to solve.
