Indian Railways does not currently have any high-speed rail lines in operation, but they have proposed twelve routes, and the Mumbai-Ahmedabad corridor is currently under development. As the fastest self-propelled train in India and the successor to the 30-year-old Shatabdi Express, the Vande Bharat Express is expected to reduce travel time by 4-5 hours or 15%.

The train covers a total distance of 707 kilometres at a maximum speed of 155 kilometres per hour. The train operates on a daily basis and has a total of 18 coaches, including two AC First class cars, 14 AC Chair cars, and two power cars. The train’s air-conditioned chair-car coaches provide passengers with facilities such as meals, water bottles, tea or coffee, and snacks. However, it should be noted that amenities such as those provided in sleeper class are not available on this train.
4. Mumbai – New Delhi Rajdhani Express & New Delhi – Kanpur Shatabdi Express
The Mumbai – New Delhi Rajdhani Express and the New Delhi – Kanpur Shatabdi Express both operate at a remarkable speed of 140 km per hour and are tied for the fourth position. The former covers a distance of 1384 km while the latter travels a distance of 440 km. Both trains provide passengers with refreshments such as morning/evening snacks, bottled water, tea and coffee, soup, meals, and ice-cream. The Mumbai – New Delhi Rajdhani Express travels through Mumbai Central, Borivali, Surat, Vadodara Jn, Ratlam Jn, Nagda Jn, Kota Jn, and New Delhi, while the New Delhi – Kanpur Shatabdi Express route includes stops at Ghaziabad Jn, Etawah Jn, and Kanpur Central.

The New Delhi-Howrah Rajdhani Express covers a distance of 1450 km and is the most esteemed Rajdhani train, having been the first fully air-conditioned train in India. Passengers are served meals like morning tea, lunch, high tea, dinner, or breakfast depending on the timing of the train. It serves as a significant link between Kolkata and New Delhi, with stops at important pilgrimage sites like Allahabad, Parasnath, and Gaya.
The New Delhi-Sealdah Duronto Express, on the other hand, covers a distance of 1457 km and also operates at a speed of 135 km per hour.
