Deadpool 3
A new Deadpool movie is in the works, often called Deadpool 3. It is an American superhero film based on the Marvel Comics character Deadpool. Marvel Studios and Maximum Effort produce it and Disney distributes it. This film will be the 34th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) and a continuation of Deadpool (2016) and Deadpool 2 (2018).
The director is Shawn Levy and the script is by Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick, Zeb Wells, Ryan Reynolds and Levy. The main cast includes Ryan Reynolds, Hugh Jackman, Morena Baccarin, Brianna Hildebrand and Jennifer Garner.
The journey to make a third Deadpool movie began in 2016 at 20th Century Fox, but was halted when Disney took over in 2019. Marvel Studios took over and Ryan Reynolds remained on board the project. It is set to bring Deadpool to the MCU and will keep the R rating like the previous films. Writers Wendy Molyneux and Lizzie Molyneux-Logelin joined in 2020.
Reese and Wernick returned for rewrites in 2022, and Shawn Levy was hired as director, and Hugh Jackman decided to reprise his role as Wolverine. Filming began in May 2023 in London, Buckinghamshire and Norfolk, with a break in July due to a strike and a resumption in November after the strike ended.
