COVID Variant BF.7: How To Get 3rd Vaccine Shot?

Covid is wreaking havoc in India with Omicron sub-variant BF.7. While China is dealing with a huge surge in Covid cases, at least four new variants have been found in India.

As Christmas and New Year approach, the risk of infection doubles. To prevent the 4th wave from coming to India, the Indian government is calling on people to be fully vaccinated and get the 3rd dose of vaccine, which is a booster dose.

Getting a booster dose is important for long-term protection against coronavirus. The protection provided by the first vaccinations begins to wane over time. When this happens, a booster shot will be given. The booster helps maintain a high level of defense against severe coronavirus disease.

They are also considered beneficial for people at high risk, such as those who are 65 years of age or older or have diseases that weaken immunity.

How to receive your 3rd or booster dose of COVID vaccine:

You can visit your local private or public health facility to check if a booster dose is available. Additionally, you can also check the availability of doses at medical facilities near you online through the Co-Win portal.

Steps to check drug availability on Co-Win:

  • Open Co-Win portal (official website).
  • Click the Login button on the home page.
  • Login or register for Co-win with your mobile phone number.
  • You will receive an OTP code according to the number you entered.
  • Enter OTP and log in.
  • Click “Schedule Appointment.”
  • Find your nearest vaccination center using your pin code or area name.
  • A list of medical facilities will be provided to you.
  • Choose the option that works best for you and make an appointment.

On July 6, 2022, the Union Health Ministry announced that at least six months will have to elapse between the second and third preventive doses of the COVID-19 vaccine.

So, if you have recently had your second dose of the vaccine, you will need to wait six months for your booster dose. And if you’ve already received your second dose and six months have passed since then, you can get your COVID booster dose now.

Wear a mask and take your booster dose as preventative measures to protect yourself from the new and highly infectious COVID variant BF.7.

Be wary.

COVID is still around.
