Why is Central Tax Day celebrated?

This day celebrates the contribution of the Central Board of Indirect Excise and Customs (CBIC) to the country and its associated officials and services. This day also encourages officers to perform their duties with utmost sincerity. Every year, officials carry out the task of checking the corruption of goods in the manufacturing sector.

The Central Tax Department plays an important role in the industrial development of the country. The tax system has been reformed by the Ministry to make tax payment easier and there has also been increased use of techniques.

The purpose of organizing this day is also to inform people nationwide about the importance of the Central Department of Taxation and Customs. Many programs are organized by the council on this day, including seminars, workshops, educational and cultural programmes, awareness programmes, competitions and award ceremonies.

About Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC)

It is a part of the Department of Revenue under the Ministry of Finance, Government of India. The work undertaken is to formulate policies related to Customs collection and collection, Central Excise Duty, Central Goods and Services Tax and IGST, prevention of smuggling and management of related issues to Customs, Central Excise Duty, Central Goods and Services Tax, IGST, and Narcotics within the jurisdiction of CBIC.
