Bihar Chief Minister List 2023: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar expanded his cabinet on August 16, 2022. The announcement came days after Nitish Kumar was sworn in as Chief Minister for the eighth time. During the expansion of the Bihar Cabinet, the state Chief Minister was joined by Rashtriya Janata Dal Leader Tejashwi Yadav, who became Deputy Chief Minister. 31 Bihar Cabinet Ministers have been sworn in and of these, more than half are from the RJD, with 11 from Nitish Kumar’s Janata Dal (United), two from the Congress and one from the former Ministry’s Hindustani Awam Morcha Chief Jitan Ram Manjhi. The 31st Cabinet Minister in the Bihar cabinet is an independent legislator.
Bihar cabinet expansion
The Bihar BJP-JDU government collapsed earlier in August 2022 after Nitish Kumar quit the alliance and returned to the Mahagathbandhan fold. Immediately after the oath-taking ceremony of the ministers, the portfolios were also distributed.
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar will hold the Home Ministry, Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav will hold the Health Ministry, Vijay Kumar Chaudhary will hold the Finance Ministry, and RJD leader Tej Pratap Yadav will hold the post of Minister of Environment, Forests and Climate Change.

The Council of Ministers in the Bihar Legislative Assembly, chaired by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, is Nitish Kumar’s eighth term in office. He announced his resignation and left the BJP’s NDA alliance on August 9, 2022. He then took the decision to ally with RJD and Congress to form a new Bihar government. Although Rashtriya Janata Dal is the largest party in this alliance, the head of this government is Nitish Kumar from Janata Dal (United).
