Despite lingering trauma, judges, attorneys and staff members return to work at HOJ two weeks after harrowing incident. During a trial in which Emily and Luke are co-counsel, everyone is surprised to hear a loud pigeon landing outside the courtroom window. However, Lola becomes even more frightened when a heated outburst turns physical during the trial.
Teddy, who survived the shooting, is back in court with Mark, which is surprising given the severity of his initial condition. It seems that his experience has changed him, as he now responds to Mark and even confronts the accused after cross-examination.
At the beginning of the episode, Ness is found unconscious in the hospital and her health is deteriorating. Lola interprets her decision to take Bailey to see her parents as a form of punishment since she is taking her son.
